Bio
Dr. Quazi Hamidul Bari is a Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering at KUET, Khulna, Bangladesh, with expertise in water supply, wastewater treatment, solid waste management, air pollution, and climate change in the Environmental Engineering field. Prof. Bari graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering at KUET. Prof. Bari has a Master of Engineering degree in Environmental Engineering from AIT, Bangkok, Thailand, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Hong Kong, SAR. Apart from his regular teaching duties at the university, he conducts several training programs on climate change, GHG emissions, the greenhouse effect, global temperature rise, air pollution, ozone layer depletion, acid rain, net zero energy building (nZEB), water pollution, and soil pollution. His research interests include treatment technologies for the removal of conventional and emerging contaminants from water, wastewater, and sludge sources; solid waste recycling, treatment and composting; and high-efficiency solar desalination techniques, innovation in porous materials and activated carbon. One of his research goals is to familiarize students with current research practices and trends in the environmental engineering field, both at home and abroad. He has been supervising many MSc and PhD students in the field of environmental engineering. He has published more than 200 papers in journals and conferences, including one book and book chapters. He has two patents: (i) a column-type solar desalination unit (2014 and (ii) a simple ceramic filter for the removal of arsenic and iron from groundwater (2012).
